Contemporary Design

Anna Sotnik

“Have what you love, pick what you like, design your home with your heart and not with pictures from magazines.”

There are a lot of definitions of this particular design style, but I define it as a mix of Modernism, Art Deco, Transitional, Midcentury, Scandinavian and Industrial styles and ideas.
What is contemporary depends always on the specific time projection, we can only imagine what contemporary will look like 30 years from now! The contemporary design described in this blog post is reflecting the trends and the main lines of 2019.

Elements of contemporary design include:

1. Contemporary design is all about smart, hidden, and/or unexpected storage solutions. Furniture pieces are simple and uncluttered, without curves and decorations.

5. Contemporary design style support the “less is more” theory, nothing here feels over-the-top. Design tends to showcase space rather than things.

6. Rugs and carpets are woolen and they comply with the neutral-color rule of the contemporary house interior design.

7. This style is focuses on minimalism, neutral colors, clean lines and environmentally-friendly materials. This design era ushered in new materials, such as corian, alucompact, quartz and granite. It strives to be practical, simple and higly functional, but still aesthetic and appealing.
