Farmhouse Design

Anna Sotnik

Interior design is really about creating a quality of life, and a beauty in that life that nourishes the soul, that makes life beautiful. That’s what all this about, not just what’s in and what’s out.

Modern Farm-House design returns us back to the roots, to the nature, to the organic and simple living. It brings with it a relaxed spirit that’s warm and inviting without a hint of pretension. This rustic country charm allows as to be who we are, to show our personality, and the most impotent part of it – to replicate this style on your own. Don’t get me wrong, this design style isn’t about mess and clutter. It’s approach to personalized, simple design, evokes a spirit that’s homelike and inviting, even if you are nowhere near a farm.

Elements of farmhouse design include:

1. Modern Farm House design tend to focus on natural materials and warm color palette. Guests should always feel welcome and comfortable in these spaces, even if their boots are still dirty.

2. Cabinets, chairs and tables are often constructed from quality hardwood, with cherry, maple, oak and pine. Light unfinished woods complement the neutral palette and connect the home to nature. Deeper woods, like mahogany and cherry, are sprinkled in to add variety and depth to the design.

9. An open layout where the kitchen, living room, and dining space are all one.

10. Cozy, comfortable decor pieces. Antique, originally made accessories.

“Farmhouse style is a warm mix of form and function. Sturdy materials (wood and steel), age-worn finishes, streamlined shapes, and textiles bring this lived-in rustic look home. In the dining room, mismatched seating (benches, stools, and accent chairs) pulled up to a long distressed wood table is a gathering spot for family and friends.” – from Waifair Ideas&Advices
